Linux box is PC intel x86 with ubuntu 14.04 installed.

Using free version on both machines and just installed both today. Version 5.1.62 (5.1.62) If so, I need to know how to do that.ĥ) I have the dfw disabled on the Linux machine so there is no firewall issue. The router does have UPnP and it is turned on.Ĥ) Does the host machine have to be configured on same port somehow as the port I am forwarding to assuming that is needed. I have a netgear r6400 router, I do not have DDNS enabled.ģ) Do I need to have DDNS enabled for NoMachine to work from outside my home network? If so, that would be great thing to have in the instructions. The first thing you’ll need to install the NX server is OpenSSH running on the machine you’ll want to log into (i.e. I read that I needed to set up port forwarding to my linux box for this to work.ġ) Do I need port forwarding set up on my local router for all this to work from outside my home network?Ģ) If 1) is yes, then what port to forward to? I have tried 4000, 4049 and others with same bad result. My router is set up so that I have reserved IP addresses from my DHCP for my Mac and my Linux box, so the IPs are not changing. I have tried searching the net and forums and they all seem to be something different than what I am doing. I am not very knowledgeable about networking so I am hoping someone can help. When I try to connect from an outside network from Mac to Linux it just keeps trying to connect infinitely and I have to kill the app.

I have NoMachine working fine within my local network. I want to use my Mac (macbook air) to remote login to my linux PC workstation that is on my home network.
